Afro-descendant Leaders at the United Nations

Dozens of women leaders represented their organizations in Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica, and many other countries at "Participatory Development: Learning from Grassroots Women Leaders," a forum hosted by the Huairou Commission, GRoots International, and United Methodist Women at the 59th Commission for the Status of Women on March 11, 2015 at the United Nations. Joined by Semhar Araia, Executive Director of Diaspora African Women's Network, the women shared their views on the unique role of rural and afro-descendant leaders in international processes to advance the rights of women and build capacity of women's organizations.
